your guide to
DERMAPLANING
Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation. An esthetician-grade, sterile scalpel is used to gently remove dead skin cells from the epidermis. Dermaplaning also temporarily removes the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face, leaving a very smooth surface.
Although using a scalpel might sound scary, the blade is held at a very precise angle and moved slowly across the very surface of the skin to achieve deep exfoliation without causing pain. Dermaplaning brightens, evens out skin tone, and leaves skin super smooth, creating an ideal base for makeup application.
A common belief is that shaving peach fuzz will cause your hair to grow back thicker. However, hair growth is determined by the hair follicle, which is located deep within the skin. Shaving or dermaplaning only removes the part of the hair visible on the surface.
For consistent results, it is recommended to follow a home care regimen and book dermaplaning sessions every 3-4 weeks.

during your appointment...
Your appointment will be in our facial room. There is no need to change into a spa wrap, you will stay in your street clothes. Your esthetician will perform a thorough skin analysis while cleansing your skin to remove any skincare products or oils. Once your skin is dry the dermaplaning will begin. The process takes about 30 minutes. Your service will conclude with a hydrating serum, moisturizer, and an SPF. You can expect a smoother, brighter, and more even-toned complexion. Some minor redness or irritation is possible, but it usually subsides quickly.
Note: Due to facial contours, certain areas of the face (such as the eyelids and nose) are not treatable using this method.
