your guide to

LIP BLUSHING

Lip blushing subtly enhances your natural lip color creating a soft, tinted effect.  By depositing pigment into the top layers of the skin, this technique subtly defines the shape of your lips, enhances their natural color, and creates the illusion of fullness giving you a naturally flushed look that lasts 2-3 years. No more smudging, fading, or constant touch-ups, just flawless, fuller-looking lips and a soft, kissable tint that lasts.

Wondering if you will still be able to wear lipstick? Yes. Lip blushing compliments but doesn’t replace your favorite shades so you can enjoy the best of both worlds: beautifully enhanced lips that give you the flexibility to play with color whenever the mood strikes. So if you’re in the mood for a bold lipstick, a subtle stain, or nothing at all, your lips will always be ready to impress.

what to expect during your appointment...

Expect to spend 2-3 hours with your Permanent Makeup Artist on the day of your service. We do recommend scheduling a consultation before your lip blushing session, however, if that is not an option--a consultation to discuss any concerns,  your desired color and outcome will be done at your appointment. Your technician will discuss color options and recommend a color, or a custom color blend to perfectly enhance your unique features. Once that is complete, your lips will be mapped and your session will begin.

A common concern is, “How painful is it?” The pain of lip blushing is very mild. On a scale of 1-10, most clients would rate it as a 2. The pain you experience will be lessened by numbing cream, which is applied both before the service as well as during the procedure. If you’ve had a tattoo before, rest assured, lip blushing is much less painful because it doesn’t go as deep into the skin.

after your appointment...

THE HEALING PROCESS

Immediately after your appointment, your lips will be a little tender with some slight bleeding and drainage of lymphatic fluid. To avoid buildup and thick scabs, gently blot this drainage away with a clean tissue every 10 minutes for the first few hours. Some swelling and redness around the lips are common and will usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days.

During the first phase of the healing process, it is completely normal for the pigment to look darker than your desired final color for the first few days than it will after it has completely healed.

Another sometimes surprising yet completely normal part of the healing process is called “The Ghosting Phase”. During this phase, the pigment settles into your skin as the top layers begin to shed, causing the pigment to appear lighter or even vanish. Trust that this is part of the healing process and eventually, the pigment will re-emerge, and your lips will settle into their final, natural-looking color.

TOUCH UPS AND COLOR BOOSTS

An initial touch-up is included in the price of your service and we recommend scheduling that session after 4-8 weeks once your lips are completely healed.

While it may be daunting to schedule a touch-up since you will go through another similar (though some clients report faster) healing process, it is important because everyone heals differently so the outcomes will vary. During your touch-up, your artist will address any color issues, such as fading or unevenness, and ensure your lips look vibrant and natural.

However, if you are completely happy with your lips by 6 weeks and you do not notice any patchiness or uneven color, feel free to skip this appointment.

A Color Boost is recommended every 12-18 months. Pigment fades over time, so regular touch-ups are necessary to maintain the color and definition and to prolong the lifespan of your service.
